Unifying DIVERSITY

Vigan City became famous when it became one of the 7 wonder cities of the world. Huge amount of tourists visits this place to see its beauty and its history in the past. This heritage city has unique culture and practices in terms of their daily activity.

Recently, it celebrated the solidarity month. Lots of activities and contests are done in order to boost our knowledge and to display its distinct Ilocano culture. The sole purpose of the solidarity month is to unite and remember the past of the Ilocano culture.

Aside from Filipino celebrating solidarity month, foreign nationalities were also celebrated such as Chinese and Indian solidarity celebration. It was done to tie the cultures of different cultures to promote peace and love.

The Chinese Solidarity Celebration was done at the Sikatuna Street of Vigan which is considered to be the Chinatown of Vigan City for there are many Chinese people living there. And the Indian Solidarity is celebrated because of many Indian student studying in the said city.

Moreover, this celebration is conducted every year which aims to promote our culture and to unite the Ilocano people. The majority of the Ilocano cultures are changing because of the changing era and these cultures are needed to be remembered and practice thoroughly so that the next generation will have a taste of this fruit.

The foundation day of Ilocos Sur National High School was postponed due to the 2019-nCoV threats and was celebrated on another day. Nevertheless, it was successful day to celebrate our foundation day even on the other day of the month. Parade was done around the city of Vigan headed by the the school employees, and the royal court. After the parade, we showcased our dancing talents through calisthenics and we enjoyed so much and after that we ate as a class and had a salu salo inside the classroom.

"Change is coming" that's what Rodrigo Duterte used as a tagline during the elections. Yes, that's true from our own self to the whole world, change roams the world. The only thing that is constant in this world is change. Nothing is permanent. Change must come to our own selves. We must be ready and voluntarily accept this change. Even our world is changing what more on ourselves. This year there are many things I want to change, from small things to big things. And I am hoping it would be successful. We know that there are huge catastrophic environmental issues that arises and continues to prevail in our world. One of the top contributors is deforestation. According to statistics, the forest size of 20 football fields are cut down every minute for industrial, commercial and other uses. This deforestation cause many trouble in our world, global temperature increases, sea level rises, landslides occur, air becomes polluted and others. If this top contributor continues to exists it can cause more serious problem. This is the reason why influential people are using their names to reach out other people to help in the conservation of our planet.
