Pandemic Ka Lang, I am Filipino

Image
Since this Covid19 pandemic begun, many Filipino youth were affected by this invisible enemy. Crowded streets were emptied. Schools filled with students were emptied. Void runs in most of the establishments.  All of us transitioned from the life we were used to be to this new life. As a young Filipino citizen, we are highly affected by this pandemic.  However, we should not feel sad about staying at home because it is for our safety. Staying at home is helpful also since we can have more time with our family. We can bond with the family members. It gives us to reflect on our lives.  This pandemic affected the sector of education. Face to face classes were prohibited. New learning style was introduced. Many people argued about the new teaching method but officials say that learning should be continuous. Injuries and deaths were recorded due to this learning method. At first, the learning method is hard because we were new to this style of education. As time goes by, we get...

Goodbye JHS, Goodbye Maxconi '19-'20

Image
ICT has always one of my favorite subject because I love computer things. I've been using Photoshop since Grade 6 or Grade 7 but my skills before then was not as good as today. However, ICT class will be missed and the Maxconi Family S.Y. also. After four years of ups and downs, misunderstandings, fun, enjoyment and all other things, our Junior High School life has ended. We will surely miss the bonds formed in and out of the classroom, the memories we had, the jokes, the cries and all sacrifices we had. And for this time it is my last blog for the Junior High School. We will be forever friends. Francis Giovani Piedad signing off.

Chase excellence, success will chase you

I am still wondering and not sure what course to take on college but I want to pursue Science and Math related courses. Dream is the reason why we all want to finish schooling and to be successful someday. Dream keeps us from fighting. Dream is a thing that needs sacrifice to achieve it. Our dream should make us inspired to keep going. Dream makes our fighting spirit stronger. Dream makes us determined. Our dreams define who and what we are on the future.

High School day amidst threats

Image
The foundation day of Ilocos Sur National High School was postponed due to the 2019-nCoV threats and was celebrated on another day. Nevertheless, it was successful day to celebrate our foundation day even on the other day of the month. Parade was done around the city of Vigan headed by the the school employees, and the royal court. After the parade, we showcased our dancing talents through calisthenics and we enjoyed so much and after that we ate as a class and had a salu salo inside the classroom.

Ilocos Sur has been a great destination of tourist because it is where Vigan City is located. And this last week of January to first week of February is the time for the whole Ilocos Sur Province to celebrate its foundation day. Ilocos Sur is a province is the Spanish Colonial Era. Ilocos is a big province during those times. However, a royal decree was released and this decree separates the Ilocos province is into smaller provinces. On February 2 this was formally done and it became Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte. Moreover, the festival in Ilocos Sur is Kannawidan which means inheritance and in the Ilocos Norte counterpart is Tan-ok which means greatness. Kannawidan showcases the rich and unique culture of the whole province of Ilocos Sur from the upland to lowland parts of the province.

Change or change

"Change is coming" that's what Rodrigo Duterte used as a tagline during the elections. Yes, that's true from our own self to the whole world, change roams the world. The only thing that is constant in this world is change. Nothing is permanent. Change must come to our own selves. We must be ready and voluntarily accept this change. Even our world is changing what more on ourselves. This year there are many things I want to change, from small things to big things. And I am hoping it would be successful. Viva Vigan!

The month of January signifies festivity in the city of Vigan especially on 4th week of the month. It is the month of the celebration of the cityhood of Vigan and the celebration of its patron saint, St. Paul. The Festival is called Longganisa Festival. During the colonization of Spanish in Vigan, Vigan is called Ciudad Fernandina because of the Royal Decree issued by King Fernando VI. The city was named Ciudad Fernandina. January 22 was signed a non-working holiday in the city by Pres. Joseph Estrada. It validated that it was a city because of the Royal Decree. And January 25 is the feast day of its patron saint. Many events are organized to showcase the culture of Vigan City such as street dancing that shows the product of Vigan which is Longganisa and Saint Paul. School from elementary up to college joins this competition and not just from Vigan rather from neighboring provinces also join. Other events include cookfest, half marathon, dance sports, float parade, quiz b...
